Horseshoe Canyon Ranch

Horseshoe Canyon Ranch Map

A lot of up and coming Arkansas climbers have gotten their start at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. “The Ranch” as its known in climbing circles is not only a hotspot here in Arkansas, but slowly making its mark as one of the busiest in the Midwest. It got its first majority of bolts by Chad Watkins in late 2001 when the ranch hired him as their full time developer. With the help of Jason Roy and Chad Davis, Horseshoe Canyon began busting out as a premiere sport climbing venue.

To partake in this huge collection of routes, travel north in the heart of the Boston Mountains between Jasper and Ponca, right off Highway 74. If camping or lodging is desired, the Ranch provides many spaces for camping and a select amount of cabins. Camping is $5 per night with pit toilets and potable water included. Given the nature of this site, a dude ranch that serves multiple purposes, HCR has a few rules and regulations:
1. Check in at the Trading Co. upon arriving and pay a $5 day use fee. If a stay overnight is desiring, pay for that then and set up before you climb.
2. Pack out all trash.
3. Do not cross property lines.
4. No dogs allowed…not even on leash.

To rest between climbing spurts, the Ranch also offers an 18-hole disc golf course, guided float trips, a 2300 ft long, 300 ft of vertical drop zipline and horseback riding.
